Sumptuous silver centerpiece/cachepot, partially gilded, belonged to the French actor, singer and producer of Italian origin, Fernandel (pseudonym of Fernand-Joseph-Désiré Contandin, Marseille, May 8, 1903 - Paris, February 26, 1971), famous in Italy for his interpretation of the priest Don Camillo, a character created by the writer Giovannino Guareschi and protagonist of the film series, with the communist mayor Peppone, played by Gino Cervi.
Handmade in Italy (Milan) after 1968, it has an ovoid shape (reminiscent of the profile of a grape), with a gilded interior, decorated with relief applications of vine shoots and four feet in the shape of bunches of grapes.
In 800/1000 hallmarked silver weighing approximately 1 kilo and 227 grams, it is approximately 19.5 cm high, 20.5 x 18.5 cm wide and approximately 16 cm deep.
It comes from a private collection in Turin.
