A beautiful painting depicting a sunset landscape. In the foreground, on the far left, a Roman fountain opens the scene, from which a small stream flows at the base.
The gaze continues and opens into an almost lakeside landscape in which ridges of rock and naturalistic elements of the river basin are treated by the painter with a certain romantic verve, a sign that it was an artist updated on the most refined and sought-after fashions of the painters who characterized the second half of the seventeenth century. In the distance, among various small settlements, a circular Roman temple reminiscent of the Temple of Tivoli. Among the pleasant colors of the twilight sky, snow-capped peaks stand out, hidden by the wooded foliage, which, due to the landscape characterization and the chromaticism used in the natural elements, recalls, in fact, the pictorial style of the master Perugino Pietro Montanini (Perugia 1626 - 1689), who in Rome was a pupil of Pietro Da Cortona and underwent pictorial influences from Salvador Rosa.
