Oil on canvas.
The painting is based on an engraving published in 1742 by Antonio Visentini in the collection: “Prospectus Magni Canalis Venetiarum”.
In this work, Bison attempts to bring the nineteenth-century view to the same depth of the eighteenth-century perspective, using the light of the Canaletto versions.
He reproduces the figures with speed and a flowing teardrop brushstroke, remaining exactly faithful to the environmental perspective.
The work is accompanied by a study by Prof. Fabrizio Magani.
