Antique MAHAL carpet - no. 973 -

In my opinion, the antique Persian MAHAL carpet is one of the most beautiful and elegant oriental carpets. This particular one was certainly commissioned by overseas customers: I recognize it from the design, the particularly soft and velvety wool, and the short fringes (unfortunately they were often cut or shortened).
