This splendid pair of candlesticks was made in France in the 18th century in finely chased and gilded bronze during the Louis XVI period. They are composed of winged putti or cherubs in chased and gilded bronze which form a particular two-arm candlestick shape, as if to keep them in balance. The putti rest on a cylindrical white marble base with applications of small gilded bronze chains, quadrangular foot.
