Map of the city of Treviso
The original map is kept at the State Archive of Venice, Land Registry Fund, Napoleonic Maps, no. 1066 and was measured at a scale of 1:1000; it includes the census municipality of Treviso, i.e. the city within the walls.
The long caption reads: "1811. This map, surveyed by the two undersigned surveyors for their respective portions as shown here, was started on May 6 next and completed in all its parts with the relative summary on September 3, 1811, with the assistance of the undersigned assistants and intervention in the operation of the municipal servants signed here below as proof. Salomoni operates from no. io to no. 563, from no. 1193 to no. 1608, from no. 1811 to no. 1945, with part of the letters. Gagliardo operates from no. 564 to no. 1192, from no. 1609 to no. 1810, from no. 1946 to no. 2475, with part of the letters". The autographed signatures follow: "Gio Batta Gagliardo surveyor, Ercole Magnaghi assistant to the aforementioned surveyor, Bevilaqua Nicola municipal collaborator, Artuso Vittorio municipal indicator of the aforementioned surveyor. Salomoni Bernardo census surveyor, Pasqualetti Giacomo assistant to the aforementioned surveyor, Fornari Parisio municipal assistant of the aforementioned surveyor, Agostino Vernizzi municipal indicator of the aforementioned surveyor.
The map is composed of 24 tables of different sizes, glued together to form a single sheet of 2382 X 1776 mm. Each of the 24 portions was photographed with a Sinar-P camera and a Rodenstock Apo-Ronar 360 mm f/22 lens on Kodak Ektachrome 64 T 6118 film, 8 x 10 inch format, by the technical photographer Angelo Mecca, of the Photo Reproduction Section of the State Archive of Venice. For the printing stages, the following operations were carried out: 4-color selection Magnascan 646 IM Crosfield Electronics 60 lines/cm square dot; engraving on presensitized aluminum plates P5 99 0.3 mm; printing on Nebiolo Invicta 418 cm 72 x 104 to 5 elements with Konda Fresk series inks; white Ingres paper from the Milani/Fabriano paper mills, 160 gr/sqm.
