Biography: Italian painter who, with his painting, has contributed, since 1945, to the affirmation of abstractionism in Italy. In 1947 he went to Paris for the first time where, thanks to Gino Severini, he met the major international artists including Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Hans Arp, artists by whom he will be deeply influenced. In 1948 he exhibited at the Rome Quadrennial and the "Salon des réalités nouvelles" in Paris; he often participates in the Venice Biennale.
