This painting depicts one of the most successful subjects among Venetian view painters of the 18th century, namely the Piazzetta, between Piazza San Marco and the San Marco Basin, the entrance to the Grand Canal with the Punta della Dogana and the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, in front of which we find the Marciana Library, and the granite columns of San Marco and San Tòdaro, with the statues of the Lion of San Marco and San Teodoro.
