Paul Leroy

Orientalist painting by Paul Alexandre Alfred Leroy (Paris 1860 - 1942), depicting a young odalisque lying on a sofa upholstered with oriental fabrics. Oil on canvas, measures 72x98 cm and 94x122 cm with frame. Signed "Paul Leroy" lower right. The painting is in excellent condition, in first canvas and no missing parts or restorations are reported. Paul Leroy was a French painter, founding member of the Socièté des Peintres Orientalistes Francais and designed the first logo of the Socièté which was used for correspondence, catalogs and posters of the Socièté promoting exhibitions and initiatives related to Orientalism.
