Antique and rare wool carpet or fabric from Central Asia, Turkmenistan, embroidered in wool to imitate felt.
It is an example for connoisseurs because it refers textually to the ancient felt carpets found in the "kurgans" under the ice of Siberia and dating back to the 5th century BC and now in the Hermitage Museum in Leningrad. The ornamental motifs have remained the same for centuries. This specimen dates back to around 1920.
It measures cm. 301 x 138.
