Venice, Doge's Palace and Riva degli Schiavoni
Oil on canvas
Late 19th century period
Canvas size 50 x 70 Frame 86 x 66
Excellent condition
A splendid view of the San Marco Basin, with the majestic image of the Doge's Palace and the long row of buildings on the Riva degli Schiavoni.
The scene is enlivened by the bustle of gondolas and gondoliers rowing around the silhouette of a Venetian galleon.
The typically lagoon atmosphere can be felt with the description of palaces and characters in the most refined ways of eighteenth-century Venetian painting and precise comparisons to the works of Francesco Tironi and Giacomo Bella.
Although executed in the late 19th century by a skilled copyist, this fascinating Venetian view in fact expresses all the stylistic features of the compositions celebrated by the great Masters of the golden century, with a pleasant, very luminous patina.
The painting is in excellent condition, already restored, cleaned and complete with a beautiful lacquered and gilded frame.
