Oil on canvas. Emilian school of the 17th century. Entirely in the foreground, this group scene of sacred figures features the faces of Mary and the Child Jesus in the center, surrounded by Saint John the Baptist at the bottom left, and three angels as a crown around them. All the characters are cheerful and smiling, despite the reference to the Passion, given by the staff surmounted by the Cross that John offers to Jesus. The movement of the bodies and the bright colors make the scene lively. This is a partial and horizontal version of the altarpiece of the same name created by the Parmesan Mannerist painter Girolamo Mazzola Bedoli (1508?-1570) for the church of San Sepolcro in Parma, developed vertically with the presence of a background landscape behind the two angels in the upper part and the completion of the figures in the lower part. The painting is still in its original canvas, with no signs of previous restoration. There are several color losses, spread mainly along the lower and two sides. It is presented in an antique lacquered wood frame.
