The SeriDécollage consists of the superimposition of two screen prints on which the artist has intervened to create the tears by hand. It is therefore an evolution of the décollage technique that made Mimmo Rotella famous since the 1950s.
The subjects are always those dear to the artist, namely the posters of the great film classics, such as Casablanca and Roman Holiday, and the films of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Sophia Loren, and James Dean.
Although these are multiples, this collection still retains Mimmo Rotella's artistic gesture on the one hand and the originality of the subject on the other, because the tearing is done by hand and each copy is therefore different from the other.
Each seridécollage is signed by the artist, numbered, and stamped by the Mimmo Rotella Foundation. The collection is published in Elena Pontiggia's catalog Mimmo Rotella multiple décollages, Milan, Silvana Editoriale, 2005.
