Pair of small GASHGAI or Kashkai carpets or bedside rugs - n. 1197 -

Pair of carpets (or bedside rugs) from parts of a Gashgai saddle edged in leather: the central part was removed because it was completely ruined. It is completed with the identical carpet, all edged in leather (see 335720). The colors are perfectly identical, even if they don't appear so in the photos. The geometric design with a triple border signifies the importance of the carpet: it was certainly a wedding gift, made up of two identical saddles, from the Gashgai nomadic tribes, located in southern Iran. Each carpet measures cm. 127 x 70.
