Article description:
Jardiniere made from a cherry wood cradle. Four vertical elements, slightly arched, support a squared front, with a central reserve with grain placed vertically. In the final part, the side panels have a shape that is accentuated near the joint to the sides. The side fronts, of smaller dimensions, have in the upper part an openwork decoration in the shape of a heart, as a grip, while even above two graceful facing curls ending with pine cones are applied on the vertical elements. This piece of furniture, presented today as a jardiniere, once served as a cradle, as evidenced by the ends of the legs, where the insertion of the horizontal elements of the rocker can be seen, which were eliminated in a previous restoration. The dimensions, the rather elaborate decoration, the choice of cherry wood, rich in nuances, place this piece of furniture in the first half of the 19th century.
