DESCRIPTION
Pastels on cardboard from the early decades of the 20th century. Splendid landscape with sailboats signed by the Italian artist Giulio Sommati (1858-1945). Excellent artistic quality. Sold with a wooden frame. Giulio Sommati from Mombello, a Turin artist from a noble family, trained artistically at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, the city where he lived and worked, exhibiting in all Italian cities. He painted genre scenes, portraits, urban views (especially his Turin markets), landscapes, and, from the first decade of the twentieth century, also numerous seascapes, following the discovery and love for the Ligurian Riviera. He had among his admirers the King (from whom he obtained the appointment as Knight of the Kingdom), Queen Margherita, Elisabeth of Saxony Duchess of Genoa, the Promotrice of Turin, Princes, municipal and national art galleries, and art enthusiasts scattered in many regions of Italy. He is considered "certainly a great poet and his poetry is expressed in the colors of nature (mother and teacher) that he brought back on the canvas." Negotiable price, please send your purchase proposals.
