Anton Kern (1710 - 1747) Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Distributing Alms to the Poor Oil on canvas cm 68 x 42.5 Kern was born in Tetschen, where his father Johannes was the town clerk. His artistic talent first came to the attention of Laurentio di Rossi, an artist of Venetian origin who served as court painter in Saxony, while Kern attended the Jesuit school in Mariaschein.
