"Adoration of the Shepherds" by Vincent Malo' (Cambrai 1602/06-Rome 1644). Museum-quality work by the Flemish master, a student of David Teniers and then Peter Paul Rubens. He joined the "Guild of S. Luke" in Antwerp in 1623, then in 1634 he came to Italy and stopped in Genoa, where he initially frequented the workshop of the brothers Cornelis and Lucas de Wael, a mandatory stop for all Flemish painters operating in Genoa. He later opened his own workshop, among his students was Anton Maria Vassallo. Highly requested by the clients of the time, he created many altarpieces for the most important Ligurian churches and many works, even of large format, for the most important Genoese families. With his painting, he contributed, in a fundamental way, to the diffusion of Flemish culture and the poetics of Rubens in Liguria. He moved, around 1640, with his family to Florence, where he also worked for the Medici family. He subsequently moved to Rome, where he died due to his dissolute lifestyle. His works can be found in the most important museums, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Vatican Museums, Genoa, Prague, Hamptoncourt in London, Pinacoteca di Parma, etc. The painting, in excellent condition, is signed with his typical monogram composed of the superimposed V and M. Frame from the second half of the nineteenth century. Canvas measures 245x200 with frame 265x220 The work is accompanied by a certificate of free circulation.
