This rare and refined pair of sofas was made in Venice in the early 18th century, during the transition between Louis XIV and Louis XV.
Each sofa consists of three seats with backs called "pattona": this is an openwork back, with a vertical folder in the center with an elongated and molded shape, which provides a large surface to be decorated with motifs often taken from the East. Also in this case, the backs, armrests and legs are in carved wood, lacquered with a dark background and relief figures with polychrome and gold Chinoiserie motifs. The arched and moved legs are joined together by mixtilinear crosspieces.
It is quite rare to be able to find sofas in pairs on the antique market. This characteristic, combined with the elegance and great decoration that characterise these sofas, makes them particularly interesting. They can be easily placed in antique or modern environments and can be displayed in pairs or individually in a living room, study or entrance, interspersed with tables or consoles.
