This centerpiece, or surtout de table, was made in the neoclassical era at the beginning of the 19th century.
The top, under glass, features a fine painting on paper applied to canvas with a geometric decoration in a classicizing style. Inside ovals are fan-shaped motifs and in the center, within a lozenge, are grotesque designs.
The metal edging is chiseled in the corners with leafy decorations.
Each sector, three in total, is suspended from the ground by four turned wooden feet.
This centerpiece, very decorative, is perfect as a tray or support surface in the center of a laid table, but also as an ornamental element on a console or chest of drawers. Perfect both combined with antique and modern furniture. The colors of the painting, in shades of pink, purple and blue, are very current and particularly harmonious.
