Biography:
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice from 1869 to 1874 with Napoleone Nani, he followed him to Verona, returning to the lagoon city in 1876.
In 1881 he participated in the National Exhibition of Milan with "The Grandfather Offers" and "Pumpkin Seller", and in the National Art Exhibition of Venice in 1887, establishing himself as a painter of Venetian life, continuing the lesson of Giacomo Favretto but always attentive to the renewal of Venetian art initiated by Ettore Tito and Cesare Laurenti.
In 1890 he won the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Boston with the work "At the Cafe".
He participated in the Milan Triennials and all the International Art Exhibitions of Venice from 1895 to 1935, with a solo show in 1912 and a retrospective in 1935.
From the beginning of the new century he established himself as a portrait painter among the Venetian bourgeoisie, continuing to portray writers, musicians and actors even in the following decades.
