This elegant oil and vinegar set was made in France, between the late 18th century and the early 19th century.
The bottle holder tray has a ship shape resting on four feet, entirely openwork and culminating on both sides with volutes. From the tray surface rise two circular-based baskets, also openwork, for housing the glass bottles (not original). In the center, the long handle useful for handling the object, ends at the top with the three-dimensional figure of a bird with open wings. Two rings are attached to the handle for housing the salt and pepper containers, which are no longer present.
Indispensable in the "mise en place", that is, the art of setting the table, in Italy and France in the 18th century, this refined and elegant oil and vinegar set can still be used for its function or displayed in a showcase as a furnishing object.
