Antique English Food Warmer (NEW ENTRY)  Translated
Description:
  Refined English rectangular food warmer composed of: two trays, one for holding the water to be heated and the other for holding the food to be kept warm. A particular lid decorated at the top with a small tureen that acts as a graceful \"knob\". The base with four elegantly curved feet and small supporting spheres connects to the center of the tray holder in the original burner. The hallmark shows the initials D&A below a globe and the words E.P.N.S (Electroplated nickel silver). followed by a letter and numbers G6698. There is also an inverted engraving, possibly made later: 26 O A. The founders were Thomas Henry Daniel (died 1897) and Thomas Richard Arter (died c. 1915) and was active at the Globe Nevada Silver Works, Highgate Street, Birmingham as manufacturers of spoons, forks, brass ladles, nickel-silver, etc. (1892). The company also had a London showroom at 62 Holborn Viaduct (until 1896) and later at 98 Hatton Garden. Sterling silver hallmarks were entered at the Sheffield Assay Office (1906) and the London Assay Office (1913). In 1920 the company was transformed into a limited company and became Daniel & Arter Ltd. The business was closed in the 1930s and their dies were purchased by WJBaker & Sons Ltd.  Translated
