Excellent condition
This splendid jewel, depicting a Cherub, is clearly distinguished by its remarkable pictorial quality.
The intense and lively gaze of the angelic face transmits exciting and pleasant sensations to the viewer.
The particular chromatic mixture and the use of chiaroscuro in a completely personal way lead us directly to the workshop of the Bolognese Annibale Carracci and his "revolutionary pictorial synthesis".
In his celebrated workshop, a veritable forge of talents, together with his brothers Ludovico and Agostino, Annibale literally decided to transform Italian painting. He rejected the artificiality of Mannerist painting in favor of a new image, where emotional communication, naturalness, and spontaneity prevailed.
This small work is a synthesis of his pictorial message and effectively demonstrates all its "modernity".
A painting of superior category which, despite its small size, allows to approach the highest levels of Italian painting of the very early 17th century.
The work is complete with a splendid antique carved and gilded frame.
