Important Noble Chest from the Italian Renaissance.
It bears the Heraldic Coat of Arms of the Marquis Beccadelli Grimaldi within a cartouche with 4 scrolls on the front.
The powerful Beccadelli family of Bologna united with a branch of the Grimaldi Princes from Genoa back in the 15th century.
This extraordinary piece of furniture comes from one of the residences of the Marquis Beccadelli Grimaldi and, in addition to being excellently made, is of considerable historical importance.
The front is a single section, richly carved with the central coat of arms and two opposing Griffins with bodies featuring vegetal and floral volutes. Two acanthus leaf pilasters protrude on its sides.
The majestic base with a double order of molding is also present on the sides and is supported by lion paws.
The top is in a single plank with underlying denticulation on three sides.
In the 19th century, the front panel was hinged with a drop-leaf opening, and the lid was fixed to be used as a support surface.
Excellent state of preservation.
