(QM194) Léon Laurent Galand was born in Montpellier, France in 1872 and died in 1960. During his career, he exhibited regularly in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, and received many awards and medals, including a gold one in the early 20th century. Many of the painter's works are preserved in the Montpellier museum. The sea paintings category to which the oil painting belongs has an original carved and lacquered wooden frame from the 1900s.
