This splendid jewel, painted in oil on canvas in the most characteristic Flemish tradition, is evidently a work by David de Koninck. An inimitable painter in depicting domestic and farmyard animals, as well as splendid still lifes, in this small work he condenses all his pictorial peculiarities, creating a fantastic, vaguely paradisiacal landscape. Animals and flowers in the foreground, painted with rare finesse, merge into a particularly pleasant scene, made even more interesting and articulated by the luminous landscape in the background.
Remarkable are the many animal and botanical species depicted and the extraordinary fantasy in the details described with incredible miniature precision.
It is a painting of a superior level that the Flemish master probably painted as a project for a work of important dimensions.
The works of De Koninck are distinguished, in fact, not only for the great pictorial ability of the Author, but also for the remarkable dimensions.
His large canvases, in addition to embellishing the walls of important private buildings, are exhibited in museums throughout Europe.
