A beautiful example of a Sienese chest made of poplar and walnut from the first half of the 16th century, still with a 15th-century style in its design.
Furniture of this kind can be traced back to the area of Siena - Perugia, sometimes decorated in tempera with pastel colors ranging from light blue to ocher yellow.
In the case of the chest in question, in which no polychromy has been applied, all the frames and studs are in walnut, while the rest of the furniture is in poplar, thus creating a fascinating two-tone effect.
The overall state of preservation is excellent, but unfortunately the base frame was replaced in the 19th century.
Its dimensions are 175 cm in length x 45 cm in depth x 55 cm in height.
We attach a historical certificate of authenticity to the sale.
