Rural landscape with waterway and architecture.
Piedmontese School from the late 1700s.
Oil on canvas.
Canvas dimensions: 100 x 70 cm - Frame dimensions: 116 x 86 cm.
Large, very scenic painting, depicting a splendid view where a ruined architectural palace stands as the protagonist.
The typically Renaissance-style construction occupies the entire left side of the painting, and its perspective creates depth in the artwork.
On the right side, a river flows slowly under the bridge that leads to the village with a mill and a church.
The blue sky irradiates the canvas with light and is lost on the horizon in the glow of the sunset.
The composition is animated by a group of French soldiers heading towards the village, while a couple of nobles seem to be waiting for them.
It is an interesting work from the Piedmontese school of the late 1700s, as can also be seen from the uniforms of the French soldiers.
The painting is still on its first canvas without any restoration or the slightest retouching and has never been cleaned.
Despite this, its condition is very good, making it fully enjoyable, and we prefer to present it as found.
