DESCRIPTION: POLYCHROME CERAMIC NUDE FROM THE 1940S, SIGNED RONZAN THE PIECE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH NO BREAKS OR EVIDENT SIGNS OF RESTORATION. (SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS) DIMENSIONS: HEIGHT 37CM BASE 18CM X 18CM Giovanni Ronzan, founder of the business, was born on 24.9.1906, in a small town near Vicenza, Le Nove di Bassano del Grappa, the cradle of Venetian ceramics, and after the death of his father during the First World War, he very quickly became the head of a family of two other brothers and three sisters. He started working at a very young age at the Bonato ceramic studio in Bassano and, after attending professional sculpture courses at the Technical Institute of Nove, he went to Milan, where he started working as a ceramicist at the Fabris porcelain factory. The big leap came in Turin, where he worked at the Lenci company. In 1939, after leaving the Lenci company with his brothers Antonio and Giuseppe, he founded the “Ronzan” artistic ceramics factory based in Turin. In 1942, due to the war, he decided to move production from Turin to Bassano del Grappa, considering this place safer. Among the collaborators of the production of the 1940s was the decorator Rosa Seglie, whose ceramics, in addition to the production mark, bear her initials RS.
