Achille Cattaneo (Limbiate 1872 - Milan 1931) - Church Interior
Oil painting on panel.
Dimensions: 60x50 cm
Signed lower right.
A student of Bertini at Brera, he was strongly influenced by naturalistic verismo with a Scapigliatura matrix in the schemes of the so-called Lombard Impressionism of Emilio Gola. His first painting was purchased by the Municipality for the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan. He participated in numerous national and foreign exhibitions with paintings of church interiors and views of Milan, especially the Navigli canals, which he preferred to paint. In 1950, a posthumous exhibition of this artist, classified as a good Lombard Impressionist, sincere, fresh, and effective, was held at the Ronzini Gallery in Milan.
