Gioacchino Meluzzi
(Imola, 1884 – Imola, 1953). Painter, sculptor, carver, cabinet maker. For many years he had his workshop at the Santa Caterina Institute, where he composed most of his works. He was a talented furniture maker, sought after by the upper middle class and nobility who demanded artistic furniture. He was one of the greatest representatives of classical cabinet making in Emilia-Romagna with frequent and well-calibrated references to the Quattro-Cinquecento tradition of sculpture, especially in the Tuscan area.
Large solid mahogany cabinet-display cabinet - bookcase, putti sculpted on the 2 side uprights, with 2 doors with "cathedral" glass, drawer below and numerous decorative cartouches on the entire front and sides.
It is difficult to describe a piece of furniture made by hand with extreme skill by a master cabinet maker who was certainly a great sculptor. Look at the photographs!
The room can be offered as a whole as it was commissioned to the Master in 1930 (the date and signature of the author are visible at the base of the bas-relief depicting the Madonna and Child).
